Shivamogga: “For the Census 2021, data like Houselisting, Housing Data and National Population Register (NPR) will be revised throughout the district from April 15 to May 29,” said Deputy Commissioner K B Shivakumar.

Inaugurating a census training workshop for census officials on Tuesday, March 3, at the DC’s office, he said, “This time, we have also made arrangements for the census data to be collected through a mobile app. As this is the eighth census post-independence, it will be the first time that the census will be carried out digitally. Once the process of Housing Data is completed, the census process will begin from February 9 to 28, 2021. This process will play a key role in the wholesome development of the country.”

“Policies and schemes are formulated by the government based on the census data. Hence it becomes very important to collect exact information. The process should be carried out without any hurdles,” he added.

Directorate of Census Operation senior officer, Keshya Naik, who was invited as a resource person for the programme, said, “During the process of collecting Houselisting and Housing Data, there are a total of 34 questions related to infrastructural facilities. All of this must be collected. One census official will be appointed for 650 to 800 people or 150 to 180 houses. There will be one supervisor per six census officials. As the census data is confidential, it cannot be taken as proof. During the Housing data process, documents will not be asked. Only the 2010 NPR data will be revised during this process.”

“During the NPR process, 23 questions will be asked. No documents will be asked or inspected in the meantime. Not even biometrics will be taken,” he added.

Additional Deputy Commissioner G Anuradha, Commissioner of Shivamogga City Corporation Chidananda Vatare and others were present.
