Shivamogga: The BJP cadre in the city burst into celebration by burning crackers in front of the BJP head office in the city as B S Yeddyurappa was sworn in as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka.
Celebratory marches were held on the streets of Shivamogga where his constituency is. The festive crowd that participated in the processions chanted slogans, burst crackers and distributed sweets near Gopi Circle in the city. Many prominent local BJP leaders joined to celebrate the occasion.
Even as Yeddyurappa became the chief minister today, the battle is far from over. He has to prove the majority on the floor of the House within 15 days.
This is the third time Yeddyurappa has become the Chief Minister of the state. In 2007, he was in power for seven days before BJP’s then coalition partner JD(S) withdrew support. In 2008, he again took over as the chief minister.
