Shivamogga: As a part of the campaign to rid India of tuberculosis by 2025, a health initiative called “Active Case Finding” is being carried out between July 2 and 13 in the Shivamogga district. There are about 2,25,000 people residing in 48,000 houses in the district, who will be part of the survey of the health campaign.
Under the campaign, people living in poor conditions, residences of migrating labourers and slum areas will be given priority.
Health officials will visit each house and conduct the necessary check-ups. The people have been advised to cooperate and provide the officials with details about symptoms of tuberculosis, such as coughs lasting more than two weeks, fever in the evenings, loss of weight, loss of appetite, blood in sputum while coughing etc. The people have also been advised to submit samples of their sputum in case the presence of blood is detected.
