Shivamogga: Forest officials of the district are taking precautionary measure with the other elephants of the Sakrebyle camp after one of them died from a Herpes infection.

The 35-year-old male elephant, named Naganna, died two months ago after getting infected by the Herpes virus, said Chandrasekhar, Deputy Forest Conservator. He added that, as they don’t have access to proper treatment, they are taking precautionary measures for the remaining elephants.

Outside the camp, ten elephants are under observation while 24 are getting treatment.
