Shivamogga: “To enable comfortable travel between Kodachadri and Kollur, a cable car will be installed with the support of the public,” said Member of Parliament B Y Raghavendra.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, January 18, he said, “For a 32-km stretch between Kodachadri and Kollur, cable cars will be installed for 11 kms, because of which the travel time will be shortened. If we arrive at a blueprint that will not affect the environment even slightly, such a project will be forwarded to the Central government in order to obtain permission along with an acceptance letter from the environment department. In the same manner, Jog Falls tourism will also be developed.”

Managing director of Menus Adventures Private Limited, Nazir Bhat said, “The project will cost Rs 1200 crores, and if both the Centre and the state co-operate in time, the project will be completed at the earliest.”

Speaking on tourism development in the district, BYR said, “The government has already sanctioned Rs 20 crores for the development of tourist spots. For the development of Jog Falls, Rs 20 crores has been sanctioned and the work is underway. In order to develop the birthplace of lady Kannada poet Akkamahadevi, Udathadi, and to depict the ‘Sharanara movement’, a half-km range of the Udathadi Fort will be developed with a modern touch. We have also planned to make the water from Anjanapur dam flow this way. We have released Rs 5 crores from the government for this project. Along with this, different forts around the district will also be developed.”

Several officials were present.
