Shivamogga: The heavy rains on May 11 night have not dampened the mood of the voters in the district as they turned out in large numbers to exercise their franchise on May 12.
Congress candidate K B Prasanna Kumar, MLA cast his vote at around 7.45 AM at the Ashoka Nagar School. Before voting, he visited a temple and came to the poling station with his family and fans. Addressing the media after casting his vote, Prasanna Kumar expressed his confidence about winning this election.
BJP MLA Candidate K S Eshwarappa also arrived with his family and fans to the polling booth in Science Field College at 12.30 PM. Speaking to reporters, Eswarappa said that the BJP was confident of winning at least 5 seats in the district. Responding to a query, he said BJP would surely form the new government in the state due to the aim of Hindutva and the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Innovative Selfie booth attracts youngsters
For the first time a separate selfie booth was installed in the polling booth to attract selfie-crazy youngsters towards casting their vote. A first-time voter Kashmeera expressed her happiness about the innovative arrangements at the polling station.
Shivamogga saw brisk voting in the morning hours. There were reports about delay in the start of voting from various polling stations in the city due to some technical issues with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The faulty EVMs were quickly replaced by the election officials to facilitate voting.
