Shivamogga: The railway department has come up with the decision to name the railway station in Arasalu village, Shivamogga, as ‘Malgudi Raiway Station’.
‘Malgudi Days’ was a super hit TV series, which was directed by Shankar Nag. A compilation of short stories written by famous author, R K Narayan, was made into a TV serial by Shankar Nag. Some parts of the serial were shot in Arasalu Railway Station. This is the reason that the railway department came up with the decision to name the railway station as ‘Malgudi’.
However, the local residents of Arasalu village are not happy with the decision of the railway department.
According to sources, the villagers say that Arasalu has its own historical significance, and the railway department’s decision to name the railway station as ‘Malgudi’ is insensitive.
Reportedly, the villagers are fine with the name ‘Arasalu Malgudi’ for the railway station, but not just ‘Malgudi’, as it hurts their sentiments.
‘Malgudi’ Museum is also being constructed in the village.
