Shivamogga: More than 300 students of the University of Agriculture and Horticulture Sciences, in Shivamogga have been on an indefinite protest against allowing private institutions to offer agricultural education for about a week.
The undergraduate and postgraduate students of agricultural sciences have been protesting by way of boycotting classes.
MLA KS Eshwarappa visited the students on protest today (June 25) and assured the students of his full support.
The students have expressed their concerns over the allowing private institutions to offer farm science courses. They said that this would result in the reduction of quality of education. They, therefore, demanded that the amendment made to the Karnataka Agriculture Universities Act, 2010, allowing private institutions to offer education in Agriculture Sciences be withdrawn.
