AgumbeGhat00Shivamogga: The Agumbe ghat will be closed for vehicles from March 1 to 31 so as to make way for repair works at the spots where landslides had occurred during the last rainy season.

Deputy Commissioner KA Dayananda has said that during this period, light vehicles like jeeps, vans, mini vans, two-wheelers can take Theerthalli-Koppa-Sringeri- Malaghat- Karkala-Udupi route.

Heavy vehicles like buses, lorries, bullet tankers, ship cargo containers and long chassis vehicles can take Theerthalli- Masthikatte-Hosangadi-Siddhapur-Kundapura-Udupi route.

Though the road will be closed for one month, the DC has said that in case the works are completed faster, the road would be opened immediately on completion of work.

Landslides had occurred at a couple of places across the ghat during July 10 to 13 last year. Permanent solution for the landslide problem has been worked out, said the DC.
