About 14 years ago, Shivarajkumar had vowed to not work on any remakes. He took this vow as Sandalwood was producing many remakes, essentially lowering the quality of the films. He kept this promise till 2019.
"Karunada Chakravarthy" Shivarajkumar, however, broke his vow with "Kavacha", a remake of the Malayalam film "Oppam". His latest release "Drona", which performed poorly at the box office, was a remake of Tamil film "Saattai".
Now, he will be seen in another Tamil film's remake. He will be working on the remake of Tamil movie "Kaithi", wherein he will play a prisoner.
This news has received a mixed response from Shivarajkumar's fans. While some are happy that he will be acting in a powerful role, others are unhappy that the actor has been part of a lot of remakes recently.
As many Kannada films are gaining immense popularity across India and most of the top stars working on originals, the fans feel that it is wrong for Shivarajkumar, who shunned remakes all these years, to act in a remake again.
We will have to wait and see how Shivarajkumar responds to his fans' reactions.
Meanwhile, the "Kaithi" remake will be directed by Nandakishore, who in the past directed films like "Adhyaksha", "Ranna" and "Mukunda Murari", all of which are remakes. He is currently directing an "original" named "Pogaru".
