Bengaluru: Pawan Kumar has surely taken Kannada films to the next level and now adding yet another feather on the cap, his last directorial venture 'U-Turn' is all set to be adapted and made into Filipino film.
The Lifeu Ishtene fame director Pawan took to twitter and wrote: “Just got to know — Kim Chiu, JM De Guzman and Tony Labrusca are teaming up for a Filipino adaptation of Indian box-office hit U Turn, a mystery thriller film that first came out in theaters in 2016.”
According to sources, the makers were impressed with the content of the film and decided to remake the film. This seems to be the first time, an Indian film is being remade in the Filipino language. Meanwhile, sources close to Pawan also say that the film may be remade in Thai and Chinese languages too.
U-Turn is a 2016 Kannada language mystery thriller film written, produced and directed by Pawan Kumar. It stars Shraddha Srinath in the lead role. The plot revolves around the death of motorists who breaks a traffic rule at a particular flyover in Bengaluru.
U-Turn was remade in Malayalam in 2017 as Careful. Next year, it was remade as Tamil-Telugu bilingual with the same title. The movie was remade in Sinhala in 2019 and the makers there too retained the titled U-Turn, thereby becoming the first Sinhala remake of a Kannada movie.
With Filipino adaptation, it will also become the second Kannada movie to be remade in five languages after the 1986 movie Anuraga Aralithu and will be the first Kannada movie to be remade in two foreign languages.
