The Indian Film Industry is known for male centric films, wherein heroines hardly have any screen time. But, things are changing. In Bollywood we have seen actress like Kanagana Ranaut and Vidya Balan doing female centric films and having their own market. Same is the case with Nayanthara, who has become a big name in Kollywood with back to back successful films.
In Sandalwood, the first name which comes to our mind in this list is Priyanka Upendra. The Bengali lass, who is married to Kannada superstar Upendra did not quit films after marriage. She took a break and went back to acting in films.
With her children grown up, she is now on a signing spree. She has three films in hand. While “2nd Half” is ready for release, “Howrah Bridge”, directed by H Lohith is completed. She will be working with Lohith again for “Mummy 2”, which will go on floor in June.
It is not only acting which Priyanka has in mind. She is also planning to produce films under her home production. She wants to make small budget films and is ready to give a chance to youngsters.
