‘Paddayi’ becomes the only film from Karnataka to make it to IFFI

Mangaluru: In what is surely a proud news for all Tuluvas, Tulu film ‘Paddayi’, directed by Abhaya Simha has been chosen for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), to be held in Goa from November 20 to 28.

What makes it even more special is that ‘Paddayi’ is the only film that will be representing the state, as no film made in other regional languages, including Kannada have made it to the list.

The film, inspired by Shakespeare’s dram ‘Macbeth’ is said to be the inspiration behind making of the Paddayi, which has already won the 65th National Award 2017 for Best Feature Film in Tulu.

The movie revolves around life and feelings of Mogaveera/ fishermen community living in the coastal belt of Karnataka.
