Bengaluru: Two month lockdown has come as a big shocker for the Kannada serial industry. According to the sources in the various Kannada entertainment channels, at least 20 popular Kannada serials have gone off air and their slots are likely to be replaced by dubbed serials from other languages.
It is not just the serials that are going off air. If sources are to be believed, one Kannada entertainment channel is likely to pull down the curtains. It can be recalled that already one channel has stopped its operation due to onslaught of the lockdown.
According to one of the actors who spoke Newskarnataka.com on conditions of anonymity, the channels have already sent messages to them in this regard.
“Even though the state government permitted serial shooting, no one started. The reason is simple: channels are planning dubbed content. They are very easy and cost effective,” they informed.
“As of now it is 20 serials, but many more are likely to wind up soon,” the actor explained.
