Bengaluru: Nagaraj Shetty, the producer of the sandalwood classic ‘Nagarahole’ died on Sunday at his residence in Chikkamagaluru. He was 93. His final rites to be held on Monday.
Nagarahole movie, which released in the year 1977 is still considered as one of the early trendsetters in Sandalwood. This movie gave a break to both Sahasa Simha Vishnuvardhan and Rebel Star Ambareesh. Directed by Rajendra Singh Babu, this movie had a good run at the box office.
Shetty, who produced numerous films including Shravana Sanje, Parajitha, Kudi Baalidare Swarga etc was president of the Karnataka Film Chamber for a term. He is known for supporting young artists.
