Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has decided to set aside 1.34 acre at the Kanteerava Studio to construct a memorial in honour of late actor Ambareesh.
The approval was given by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa for the project on Monday during a meeting with Mandya MP and late actor’s wife Sumalatha Ambareesh.
The government will provide an initial fund of Rs 5 crore for the memorial.
After the meeting, Sumalatha Ambareesh thanked BS Yediyurappa in a social media post and said the CM has recognised and honoured the social, films, political services and contributions made by Ambareesh.
Film actor Doddanna, director and producer Venkatesh (better known by his moniker Rockline Venkatesh), and Sumalatha’s son Abhishek, who is also an actor, were present at the meeting along with the Chief Minister.
Ambareesh, who was also known as the ‘rebel star’ passed away in November 2018.
