The multilingual hit film 'KGF' has broken records at the box office and has reportedly grossed nearly Rs 250 crores worldwide. The film is still running to houseful boards in Karnataka as well as in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is running 90 shows in Hyderabad, double than that in Bengaluru. Now, it is all set to premiere on the online streaming platform- Amazon Prime Video.
The Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions of the film will go live on the digital platform on February 5. Details regarding the Hindi version, however, is not out yet, although it is expected to be out at a much later date, as there are plans to release it on TV first.
Amazon Prime announced the release date of KGF on its official Twitter handle, which was met with a mixed response. While some fans are happy with the development, some have expressed disappointment as the film is still running to packed houses.
The digital rights were obtained by Amazon Prime for Rs 18 crore. Amazon is said to have brought the digital rights of KGF in all five languages - Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The price of KGF has surpassed that of previous movies sold to the digital platform. This might result in more demand for Kannada films on digital platforms like Amazon and Netflix.
