Bengaluru: Yash-starrer KGF has done the unbelievable at the box office. The film has grossed Rs 200 crores at the end of its 18th day. Yash did not celebrate his birthday on January 8, as a mark of respect to superstar Ambareesh, who died recently. However, he got a big gift with the film grossing Rs 200 crores.
The film has done excellent business in Karnataka, with more than Rs 100 crores coming from the home state. It performed very well in Hindi belts, with the film grossing nearly Rs 55 crores. In Telugu as well, the film did well and collected more than Rs 20 crores. The film is clean hit in Hindi and Telugu. However, in Tamil and Malayalam, the film did less business and is an average venture there. However, the second part of the film is expected to do greater business there.
Released on December 21 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) was the most expensive Kannada movie, made on budget of Rs 70 crores, including print and publicity. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Achyuth Kumar and Anant Nag.
