Bengaluru: Kaviraj, one of the top lyricists in Sandalwood, had announced his intention to direct a film quite a while ago. A few days ago, Amulya was announced as the leading lady. Now the film, Maduveya Mamateya Kareyole (wedding invitation), has found its leading man.
Newcomer Suraj Gowda has been finalised to play the lead after Kaviraj and producer Dinakar Toogudeepa held an audition in the city earlier this week.
Suraj had acted in an experimental film Kahi earlier. Onwhy he picked a newcomer, Kaviraj said, “I felt a newcomer would be apt once we shaped up the script. There is no heroism or anything. It is more of a story between two families. The focus is more on human relationship and there is a love story in it. It will be a fun film.”
Kaviraj has written lyrics for nearly 600 films in the last 13 years and is nearing 1,000 songs. About the need to get into direction when he is at the peak of his writing career, he said, “The dream to become a director is very old. I thought I would get into direction when the demand for writing lyrics would reduce But it did not. I have been writing lyrics for 13 years. I too need a change. And you need promotions in life. And for any film technician, the highest promotion is to become a director.” About the film, he said, “We have seen the title from a very different angle. Only 10 percent of the film happens in a wedding set-up.” The film is being produced under Darshan family’s Thoogudeepa Productions.
