Upendra’s fans are in for some good news as his psychological thriller “Upendra” is all set for a re-release. The film, directed by Upendra, was released 20 years ago in 1999 and now, the film’s producer, Shilpa Srinivas is working on bringing it back to the silver screen.
The producer is bringing down the online links of the film, which have been up for years now. She is seeking the help of anti-piracy and cyber-crime experts in this regard. The film featured Upendra in the lead role and also had three female actors – Prema, Damini and Raveena Tandon. The music for the film was composed by Gurukiran.
“Upendra” was a blockbuster and gained an epic status in Sandalwood. Certain people criticised the film for being vulgar and anti-woman, however, this had no effect on the box office. The film turned out to be blockbuster in Karnataka and in Andhra Pradesh, where it was released in the Telugu language.
An announcement regarding the date of the re-release will soon be made by the producer.
