Mumbai: Deepika Padukone , who made her debut in 2007 has emerged as one of the most sought after actresses in the film industry. She turned 29 Monday!
The dimpled beauty from Bangalore is the daughter of veteran badminton champion Prakash Padukone. She began her career as a model and then eventually tried her hands at acting with Farah Khan’s ‘Om Shanti Om’ opposite ‘badshah’ Shah Rukh Khan.
Deepika was initially written off as a non-actor despite bagging roles against biggies in the industry. But destiny had surprises in store for both Padukone and the audiences.
2013 saw Deepika emerge as the “queen” of the Box Office with back-to-back super hits: ‘Race 2’, ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Goliyon Ki Raseela Ram Leela’.
Her performance in Homi Adajania’s ‘Finding Fanny’ in 2014 won her applause as she shared screen space with Indian cinema’s legendary actors- Pankaj Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia.
Now, Deepika is on board Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani’, the filmmaker’s most ambitious project.
