Darshan’s 52nd film “Odeya” was recently launched in Mysuru. The film, which will be directed by M D Sridhar, is a remake of the Tamil hit film “Veeram”. Initially, it was rumoured that the film will be titled as “Woderyar”, which led to controversy as the title was connected to the Mysuru royal family. However, Darshan dismissed the rumours about the title and said that the film was always expected to be titled “Odeya”.

Sandesh Nagraj is producing the film under the Sandesh Production banner. Darshan is a close friend of Sandesh’s and has previously worked in his production ventures like “Prince” and “Airavatha” in the lead. Considering that this film is a remake of “Veeram”, Darshan’s fans are disappointed.

The Tamil version had Ajith in lead and it was about five brothers. The movie did well at the box office but, was severely criticized for its clichede story. The film was also remade by Pawan Kalyan in Telugu. Unfortunately, the film bombed at the Telugu box office. Darshan’s fans had hoped that he would not star in this film, however, Darshan had other plans.

It is said that Darshan wanted to work with his close friends in this film. As the film has four actors playing the role of his brothers, he felt this is an apt film to cast his close friends. The film will reportedly be made under a tight budget and will be shot quickly.
