Popular Sandalwood artiste, AV Ravi has been selected to lead the Indian team at the World Bodybuilding Championship to be held in Cebu City, Philippines, starting May 31. The actor is an Income Tax inspector, bodybuilder and, a fitness ambassador.
He is also a popular actor in Sandalwood but, after his return to the Income Tax as an inspector after more than a decade of fighting a legal case, the number of his appearances has diminished. Ravi has permission from the department to act in only two films per year. This means he has to refuse all the other opportunities that come his way.
Ravi has been the captain of the Indian bodybuilders’ team at world championships three times earlier; 1992, 1993 and 1995. Now, 22 years later, he has once again been bestowed with the same honour. Ravi returned to competitive bodybuilding after taking up a challenge. Always against the use of protein supplements and bodybuilding drugs, he decided to return to show that he could do just as well with a normal diet. Ravi has won over 100 gold medals in his sporting career spanning over 30 years, not only for bodybuilding but in other sports, including athletics.
