Raichur: The threat of drought is looming large as temperatures in Haveri, Raichur, Yadgir, Chitradurga, Kalaburagi and Ballari are soaring high.
Haveri has witnessed a maximum temperature of 41°C and according to J M Katti, Assistant District Statistical Offficer, the temperature could be the same way till April 30.
Raichur is experiencing above 40°C from the past four days. There is severe shortage of water as well.
The neighbouring district of Kalaburagi recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
Yadgir is going through a very tough period with the temperature hitting 40°C in the morning at 7am itself. Afternoons are tough to bear and there is no respite at night too.
Chitradurga is witnessing high temperatures up to 40°C. The reasons could be the radiation from rocky terrains in and around the city. Farmers are worried that there could be drought soon if it doesn’t rain.
In Ballari, the condition is same as others with the temperature rising up to 40°C.
The summer this time seems to be very extreme with these many districts going up to 40°C.
