Raichur: Close on the heels of ongoing agitation against the entry of women of all ages into Sabarimala temple, Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader opined that central government should interfere immediately and pass an ordinance in this regard.
Addressing the reporters here on Sunday, October 21 Khader said, “the central government should promulgate an ordinance and end the conflict once and for all. The central government should first take a stand on whether to follow the Supreme Court verdict or not, failing which there can be no positive end to the issue. “
Pointing out the ferocious fight at Sabarimala, Khader said, “devotees are intensifying their protest so as to prevent women of all ages getting entry into the temple. However, the leaders of the BJP have become mute spectators to the development.”
He further said that the parliament has the power to rectify the problem and it should pass an ordinance just the way it did in case of Jallikattu and Kambala in the recent past. “If an ordinance could be passed then, why not now in case of Sabarimala,” he questioned.
