Stones pelted at police during protest for engg student death case-1

Raichur: Thousands of students from different colleges of the district gathered in large number, here on Thursday, April 25, responding to a protest call given by the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), demanding justice in Madhu Pattar death case.  The victim was an engineering student in the city.

As the protest march reached the deputy commissioners’ office, some miscreants began pelting stones and chappals on the police personnel, who were deployed to control the situation.

Meanwhile, a protestor also attempted to immolate himself by pouring kerosene on him. He was immediately taken to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment.

In the protest march, Sandalwood actors Bhuvan Ponnanna and Harshika Poonacha had participated.

Later, the police began dispersing the protestors.

It may be recalled that Madhu Pattar's dead body was found in a half burnt and decomposed state in an isolated place in Raichur couple of days ago and her friends and college mate and family had alleged that she was raped and murdered by a man who was stalking her. The case has been handed over to the CID.
