Hassan / Chikmagalur: Health Minister U T Khader on Thursday October 30; inspected various governmental hospitals in the district and discussed about the medical issues pertaining in the hospitals.
“Keeping in mind the rise in the number of patients in rural hospitals, necessary medicines required for the hospitals will be supplied hereafter and upliftment will be done”, he said. He informed that funds for development will be initiated under the National Rural Health Mission Scheme from the government, which he said, has been increased, from Rs 1.75 lakh to Rs 2.50 lakh .
The issue of staff shortage at all the government hospitals across the State will be sorted out soon, he assured. The Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader added that the state government will start recruiting doctors and para medical staff to the government hospitals within six months.
Stating that over 70% of the population in the State depend on government hospitals, Khader said, that the doctors and para medical staff were not recruited for the last 10 years. As a result, the number of vacancies lying vacant have increased. “There is shortage of 1,700 specialists’ doctors and 321 doctors in the state. The entire health care system in the state is dependent on 50 % of staff.” he said
“I have appealed to Chief Minister to recruit doctors and set up generic drug centres. The CM has responded positively to my request. A proposal has been submitted to the government to increase the salary of the doctors working in government hospitals to 70,000 from 55,000”, he said.
