Mumbai: “I don’t want to remember what happened in Asian Games,” Sarita Devi told sources in an interview. Disappointed with whatever happened in the Asian Games in Incheon, Sarita said that the athletes sweat it out to represent India at the international stage. Sometimes, even at the expense of their family time. Sarita Devi highlighted the fact saying that her one-year-old kid does not recogniser her.
Sarita Devi said, ” I apologised for the sake of my nation. Whatever I did on the podium should not affect my teammates.”
Sarita Devi meanwhile thanked her countrymen for offering her the support following the incident when she was refused a chance to play in the final of 91+ kg category in the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. The Manipuri boxer though has now clarified that she had no plans to decline the bronze medal.
The Indian said that whatever she had to go through must not happen with any of the sportsman. Sarita Devi had on Friday issued an unconditional apology to AIBA. During her interview, she also stated that her South Korean opponent Park told her that she had won.
To conclude, Sarita Devi said she is hopeful that the International Boxing Association (AIBA) must do their best to avoid such incidences as the one that happened with her in the 17th Asian Games.
