Ajjampura taluk declares a Rail Roko protest Nov 20

Ajjampura: The Gram Panchayat President Krishnappa, Vice President Savitha Rangaswamy and others at a meeting in Ajjampura have decided to hold a  Rail Roko to protest against the unscientific level crossing on Ajjampura-Hosadurga road and other issues and facilities.
The rail roko will be held from November 20, said Gram Panchayat President Krishnappa.

They are also demanding to stop the inter city train at Ajjampura Railway Station, drinking water and  toilet facilities at the station, roof for the platform, rest room, over-bridge to walk to the platforms should be constructed at the railway station, they added.

Krishnappa said there is an unscientific level crossing on Ajjampura-Hosadurga road. Instead, road over bridge should be constructed to facilitate the movement of vehicles and passengers. The inter city train should have a stoppage at Ajjampura.

GP member Nataraj said hundreds of villagers from 64 villages, members of various organizations will take part in the Rail Roko. The Railways should officially announce the stoppage keeping in mind the history of the railways in the region.

Gram panchayat member A C Chandrappa also addressed the meeting and supported the Rail Roko initiative.
