Dubai: Konkan Yuva, youth wing of St Mary’s Church Dubai has announced Vivian Fernandes as its new President for the next term. Vivian Fernandes was elected by nomination in the general body meeting held in Dubai. Vivian has been an active member of Konkan Yuva since its inception. Vivian hails from Bajal Parish, Mangalore and is an active member in most of the church activities.
Vivian took over the post from Josna Martis, who served as president of Konkan Yuva in the past years.
The newly elected president has a major responsibility of taking Konkan Yuva to its new heights by uniting the members and making it stronger and approachable to newcomer or youth of Konkan belt.
The new president said, “It is a great joy to have been elected as the President of Konkan Yuva, one of the best Konkani community in Dubai. I will involve myself completely to accomplish what we have in mind and all the plans that are in line for the coming year. Our mission is to empower volunteers, meet humanitarian needs, encourage the youth to serve the parish and help the needful thus fulfilling the motive of Konkan Yuva, ‘home away from home’. I wish more youth join KY. I look forward to working with an energetic core team and all the members of Konkan Yuva.”
The outgoing president, Josna Martis expressed her views saying, “We the members of KY are very delighted as Vivian is appointed as the new President. We have extreme confidence in him as he has been with KY since its inception and seen all the ups and downs of the organisation. I am sure Vivian and team will definitely strive for success during their tenure. We promise him and core committee our wholehearted support in all the activities they plan for the upcoming year. I wish the President and the core committee all the best and complete success for the next term.”

Konkan Yuva, the youth wing of St Mary’s Church Dubai is a group of young and dynamic individuals who belong to the Konkan belt and residing in Dubai. The tagline of Konkan Yuva being ‘home away from home’, it has helped many individuals seeking comfort and assurance in the team. The main vision of the organisation is to help the newcomers from Konkan belt in Dubai, to give them the comfort and create a friendly atmosphere, to be reachable for them whenever they are in need.
Past and Current Activities 2017-2019
Konkan Yuva has been one of the active organisations in the St Mary’s Church. KY has been actively involved in various activities of the church like participation in sports fest, family fest, volunteering in church activities, cemetery cleaning to mark all souls day, Clean Up the World campaign, Christmas crib competition, Hosting an event for Kevin Misquith Live in Concert, Band Charitra concert in collaboration with an event organization, city quest etc.
