Muscat/Udupi: In a shocking incident, a youth from Udupi who was working in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman was found dead in his room on Sunday, December 9.

The deceased has been identified as Guruprasad Upadhya (27), also known as Guru, who hails from Udupi and was a student at St. Mary’s College, Shirva and Milagres PU College, Kallianpur. He also studied at Poorna Prajna College, Udupi. He was known to be a friendly and intelligent person.

The cause of death is reported to be cardiac arrest. As per reliable sources, Guru previously had seizures, probably due to epilepsy.

It is learnt that Dilip Correa, who had employed Guru as an accountant for the past two years, informed that when he had called him up after he did not report to office as per the schedule, he did not receive any answer. It was assumed that Guru had gone to sleep in his room as usual. However, when Dilip arrived at Guru’s room, he found that the door was locked from the inside and that Guru was not answering the door.

Finally, when the door was broken open, Guru was found motionless on his bed. When the paramedics arrived at the venue, they pronounced him dead.

Arrangements for the repatriation of his body are underway.

More details are awaited.
