Dubai: National Democratic Alliances (NDA) Kerala convenor Thushar Vellapally, facing a cheque dishonour case in the UAE, on Monday, August 26, could not arrive at an out of court settlement. The court posted the case for Wednesday.

The case was filed in the UAE by N. Abdullah, a Keralite, with whom Vellapally had entered into a sub-contracting agreement a decade ago. The company was later wound up. Abdullah claimed Vellapally owed money to his creditors and the cheques that he gave bounced.

On Monday, when the case came before the Ajman Court, Vellapally informed the court that cheque, presented by Abdullah. was a stolen one. The prosecutor pointed out that since no such case had been filed, it couldn’t be admitted, now.

Later, the prosecutor sought an out of court settlement and the case was posted for Wednesday.

But, according to sources, in the first round of talks between the aides of Vellapally and Abdullah, the later was not agreeable to the former’s offer and the matter reached a dead end.

Meanwhile, Vellapally has two more days, before the court hears the petition again and hectic parleys are on to see that the case is settled out of court.
