Abu Dhabi: The World Bunts Federation held a special meeting under the chairmanship of Padmashree awardee Dr. B R Shetty in Abu Dhabi on May 12 at 11 AM. President of World Bunts Federation Aikala Harish Shetty, Bunts Vibhushana Awardee Dr. Sunitha Shetty and presidents of Bunts Associations from other parts of the AGCC countries including the advisors of UAE Bunts attended the meet.
President of UAE Bunts Sarvotham Shetty welcomed and briefed on the initial preparations of the federation. Later, Aikala Harish Shetty spoke about the aims and agenda of the federation. Recalling the motto of the federation -“Buntara Nadige Pragathiya Kadege”- he requested the Bunts organisations worldwide to support in fulfilling this goal.
“Currently there are 106 Bunts associations worldwide with 6 associations in the Arabian Gulf. All of these associations are affiliated with the World Bunts Federation”, he said.
The following commitments were finalised in the meet:
- To provide monetary assistance for the marriage of the daughters from the needy families
- To assist in building homes for the homeless
- To support students from the community who are in need of assistance for pursuing higher studies
- To support sportsmen for improving their performance and activities further
- Help the downtrodden community members in their medical needs
- To take care of the elderly in the absence of the support from their family by providing them shelter in old age homes.
- Providing guidance to brides from the community to select the right life partner and prevent them from falling prey to opportunists.
- To make the community unions stronger
- To encourage the youngsters to adopt to the culture and tradition of the community
Representatives for various parts of the world were identified and elected. Sarvotham Shetty was selected to oversee the entire Gulf region, Sudhir Shetty was entrusted the responsibility of Far East and Western countries.
All members renewed their registration and paid membership fees.
