Abu Dhabi: The Vatican, on Thursday, December 6 announced that His Holiness Pope Francis will be visiting Abu Dhabi next year in February, to attend an inter-faith meeting. He will be attending the meeting in response to an invitation sent to him by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the region’s Catholic community.
The Pope is expected to be in Abu Dhabi from February 3 to 5, according to the Vatican.
News of the Pope’s visit to the UAE was welcomed by Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as well as Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed, who expressed their happiness on Twitter. Each of them tweeted about their hopes for a fruitful dialogue during the visit, in order to promote peace in the world.
