Abu Dhabi: Season seven of Mangalore Cup, held under the banner of the Mangalorean Cricket Club is fast approaching. The much-awaited over arm cricket tournament, “Mangalore Cup 2019” will be held on February 22 at the Zayed International Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi at 4 PM.
Like every year, the mega event will have other non-cricket attractions such as a lucky draw, family entertainment, kids’ play corner, ladies’ mehandi programme and dance, face painting and activities for kids.
The winners of the Mangalore Cup 2019 will receive a grand cash prize of AED 11,000 and the runners-up will receive AED 6,000. The tournament will also have prizes for ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Man of the Series’.
Former cricketers Javagal Srinath and Rahul Dravid are expected to be present at this tournament.
The unique feature of this year’s cricket carnival is that the MCC is partnering with Steps and Strings to organise “Dancespiration 2019”. Kishore Aman Shetty and Sahill have been roped in as the Celebrity judge and celebrity host respectively.
The champions of the competition will receive a cash prize of 17,000 DHS and the runners-up will receive 12,000 Dhs.
Speaking to newskarnataka.com, the chairman of MCC K H Latif said, “This year, about 10,000 spectators are expected to be present since the cricket stars, celebrity judge and celebrity host are arriving for the tournament. Our partnership with Steps and Strings is also one of the main reasons why many more people will be attending the event.”
