Abu Dhabi: In the spirit of the Holi festival, Indian expats got together at parks across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, to celebrate the festival of colours on Friday March 3.
Around 4000 people gathered at the Khalifa Park, despite the rainy weather, and accompanied by 4 DJs, they proceeded to celebrate the festival with dance numbers.
Dubai too was witness to large gatherings of colourful people, celebrating the festival with true Indian ferver, at the Zaabeel Park and Al Mamzar Beach Park.
One of the participants in the celebration, Raj Penjathaya speaking about the festival said that this is a colourful festival that everyone can enjoy.
The event in Abu Dhabi, organised by NMC Hospital in association Indian Business and Professional Group, was named ‘Colours of Friendship’.
Speaking about the festival, Vice President of the Indian Business and Professional Group, Paddy Acharya said, “This is a festival of friendship and it brings everyone together, be they rich or poor or even people of other religions.”
Red Dot’s Jonia Matthew said that the festival being a celebration of colours and music, which everyone loves, is why they organise and celebrate this event year after year. Red Dot has been organising Holi celebrations in Abu Dhabi for the last six years.
At the event at the Reaction Park near Abu Dhabi Corniche, organised by the Indian Ladies Association, participants included officials from the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi and people from various nations. There were more than 1000 Indian expats at the event which had a lot of fun, music, rain dance, exciting raffles and most importantly, colour.
