Qatar: The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), the Indian Sports Center (ISC), and the Indian Business & Professionals Council (IBPC) (apex bodies of the Indian embassy in Qatar) inaugurated their joint premises at the Integrated Indian Community Centre (IICC) in Al Thumama.
Indian Ambassador P Kumaran was the chief guest of the inauguration ceremony and Embassy of India Counsellor Rajesh Kamble was the guest of honour.
The premises was inaugurated by chief guest P Kumaran with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Afterwards, a formal function was held at the M Kanjani Hall.
ICBF President PN Baburajan welcomed the gathering and detailed the purpose of the new premises as well as the efforts behind making such a dream project come true.
Later, IBPC President Azim Abbas spoke about the conceptualization and implementation of the whole process. He proceeded to thank Harish Kanjani who sponsored the M Kanjani Hall in remembrance of his father and ICBF Founding President M Kanjani. Abbas reminded the need for support from the community members and took the audience on a virtual tour of the premises.
In his address, ISC President Nilangshu Dey emphasized the need for the community centre to connect the three apex bodies. He briefed the audience on the available facilities and requested members to make the most use of it.
During his address, Chief Guest Kumaran lauded the three apex bodies for their efforts in making the idea of having a joint premise into reality. He recommended that the activities at the IICC must reach out to more members of the community and went on to appreciate all the community leaders and sponsors who had lent a hand in the project.
Embassy of India First Secretary and ICBF Coordinating Officer SRH Fahmi, Second Secretary KS Dhiman, Third Secretary Sona Soman, and others were present.
The ceremony was attended by more than 200 people including members of the apex bodies, well-wishers, and community leaders.
