Dubai: Dubai Police issued warning to UAE drivers against over speeding in major highways after two accidents occurred in less than 12 hours in Sharjah.
The incident took place between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Motorists drive in high speeds and also change lanes very quickly, which is said to be a major reason for horrible accidents in Dubai.
The Dubai police, in their Twitter message, said “Driving at high speeds causes the most serious traffic accidents. We advise you to adhere to the legal speed limits.”
In Dubai, speeding is not only dangerous but can be very costly too.
According to UAE traffic law, the drivers are fined Dh600 for exceeding the speed limit by 30 kilometres per hour, DH 700 per hour for speeding by 40kilometers per hour and Dh 1,000 by speeding 50kilometers per hour.
A British tourist had violated speed limits 33 times in his rented Lamborghini and had accumulated a total fine of Dh170,000.
