Mysuru: The scion of the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has condemned the plan to demolish the historic Devaraja Market and Lansdowne building, here on Wednesday, February 6.
In a Facebook post, Yaduveer has said, “The MCC is the body entrusted by the citizens of Mysore to protect our civic integrity, a major part of which is our inherited heritage. Thus this resolution goes against the very ideals that the MCC should protect. Furthermore, the opinion of various bodies concerned is that these heritage structures could be restored and further be of utility to our city.”
Yaduveer has criticised the concerned department officials holding negligence responsible for the current state of the historic buildings in the city.
