Mysuru: As varied opinions are flowing in on constructing multi-level parking system in place of historical Nanjaraj Bahadur Choultry, for which Custodian of Mysore Kingdom, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar raised objections to the idea.
Speaking to media, he said that such a move would damage the historic and culturally rich image of the city.
“There is no point in calling the city a ‘cultural hotspot’ if we start constructing multi-level parking systems all over.’
“We have so many historic structures in this city which we can proudly associate with. It becomes our utmost responsibility to preserve such structures,” he added.
Suggesting how to strike a balance between maintaining the historic structures and also incorporate parking system, Yaduveer said, “We do not have any objection towards the implementation of the parking system but we need to find an alternative to save the historic structures. We need to save these structures so that future generations do not miss a chance to understand our glorious history.”
