Mysuru: The influx of tourists to the city of Mysuru has skyrocketed owing to the various activities having been lined up till January 1. Last year on December 31, 90 per cent of the hotel rooms were filled, whereas this year, 95 per cent of the rooms have already been filled all across the city.

This year, various activities have been lined up as part of the ongoing Winter Festival, including the illumination of the Palace on January 1, which is why many of the tourists have decided to stay back for the festivities. This has led to an increase in demand for rooms, rented cars and cabs which has led to an increase in the burden on the proprietors, but they are somehow managing to provide services to the customers. Due to the rush, KSRTC deployed 500 additional buses between December 22 and 25.

Narayana Gowda, President of the Hotel Owners’ Association said, “This is all thanks to Deputy Commissioner D Randeep’s initiative of launching a winter festival at the palace, which has attracted a large number of tourists.”

B S Prashanth, Managing Director, Safe Wheels Tours & Travels, Safe Wheels Group, winner of Best National Tourism Film Award (Special Award) for “VISIT MYSURU Film”, for promoting Mysuru Tourism, said, “There is a huge demand for vehicles. Compared to last year, the business is 20 percent more.”

On Sunday more than 34,786 tourists visited Mysuru palace alone and in most of the tourist spots, including the zoo and Chamundi Hill, the tourists came in large numbers.

A record turnout at Mysuru Palace: On Sunday There was a record turnout for the Winter Festival which is being held at the Mysuru Palace premises. According to Deputy Commissioner D Randeep, a total 34,786 people visited the flower show which was part of the festival. This sort of turnout was not even seen during the Dasara festival.
