Vintage car rally between Bengaluru-Mysuru kicked off

Mysuru: To make the Dasara celebrations more unique this year, a vintage car rally has been organised between Bengaluru and Mysuru on September 30 and October 1.

The rally, titled ‘The FHVI Royal Classic Car Drive to Mysore’, saw 50 vintage cars participate. Proud vintage car owners came from across the state and the country as aswell, to participate in this unique rally. There were even participants from foreign countries such as England, France, and Sri Lanka. In all, there were 12 participants from foreign countries, 22 from across India and 16 from Bengaluru.

Royalty from North India also participated in the drive. Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur, Harshwardhan Singh of Dungarpur, Pradyumen Singh of Lucknow and Jithendra Deshprabhu of Goa took part in the rally. The cars were stationed in front of the Mysuru palace for public viewing when the palace was illuminated. Today the cars will be driven to the Chamundi hills.

The first leg of the rally was flagged off by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy at the Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru on September 30. It concluded at the Lalitha Mahal Palace in Mysuru in the afternoon.

For the second leg of the rally, on October 1, the participants were scheduled to begin their drive to the Chamundi Hills at around 7 am following which, around 12 cars were to accompany the Dasara elephants for the rehearsal till the Bannimantap Grounds.

After this, the participants will move to KRS and return to the Lalitha Mahal Palace for a dinner that will be arranged for them.

Vintage cars from globally renowned car manufacturers such as Mercedes, MG Motors, Jaguar, Ford, Wolseley, Buick, Chevrolet, Morris, Austin, Alfa Romeo, Triumph, Sunbeam and Lincoln, were part of the rally.
