Mysuru: Few syndicate members of the University of Mysore (UoM) have recommended the name of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the honorary doctorate this year.

At a meeting held in this connection, the UoM syndicate members were of the opinion that Siddaramaiah’s tireless efforts in uplifting rural poor and for presenting maximum number of state budgets as finance minister deserve due honour. After having governed the state devoid of scams, CM is the ideal nominee for the honour to be presented at the 99th UoM convocation during February first week, syndicate members opined.

The chief minister hailing from a humble family background has contributed a lot to the University’s growth by allocating necessary funds, they said.

Around ten renowned personalities have been recommended for the honorary doctorate including Suttur Seer Sri Deshikendra Swamiji, Environmentalist Saalu Marada Thimmkka and scientist M S Kiran Kumar among others.

An expert committee headed by the UoM Vice Chancellor will shortlist 4 names out of 10 and then recommend them to the state governor, said Registrar Bharathi.
