Ten day Craft Bazaar from August 31

Mysuru: The Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India in association with JSS Urban Haat will be organising Crafts Bazaar at JSS Urban Haat premise from August 31 to September 9. The main objective of conducting this mega event is to provide a marketing platform to the artisans from all over the country to arrange for a direct marketing linkage between the artisans and the art-loving citizens.

M Shivananjaswamy, Project Officer, JSS Urban Haat said “The wide range of exclusive handicraft items, which are renowned worldwide for its art and crafts will be displayed by artisans from all over the country under one roof showcase their ethnic art and crafts. The craft bazaar provides a platform for a direct market linkage between the artisans and the art-loving general public. More than 100 master craftspersons from all over the country will display their products at a rural ambience, and demonstrate their crafts work. Their exquisite craft creations to showcase their traditional heritage of arts & crafts to the art connoisseurs of Mysuru. In all the ‘Crafts Bazaar’ showcases range of Handicrafts under one roof. The craft Bazaar is a unique exhibition and an opportunity for artistic, cultural and creative pursuit, it tells stories from the heart of rural India through its textiles, pottery and jewellery”.

He also mentioned that national and state awardees craftsmen will present live demonstrations in Art & Craft making and display various articrafts which includes Kasuthi sarees, Tassur silk sarees, Kantha stitch sarees, Banaras sarees and Dress Materials, Boutique sarees and Dress, Bengali Cotton sarees, Kashmir Handlooms, Wood Carving & furniture’s from Saharanpur, Wood Inlay, Chicken Embroidery, Modern Arts Murals ceramic, Madhubani Painting, Rajasthan Miniature Paintings, Rajasthan Embroidery & footwear, Gujarat Dress, Dry flower, All kinds of Leather Items, all kinds of Jute products, Vegetable print Dress Materials, Artificial, Imitation Jewellery, Gem Stone Jewellery, Marble Painting, Karnataka Silk Sarees & Channapattan Toys all kinds of Terracotta items and other Handicrafts& Handlooms Items. The bazaar will be kept open from 10 am to 9 pm and there will be no entry fee.

Vipul Kumar, Director, Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru will inaugurate the Craft Bazaar on August 31 at 4 pm, B. Ramu, Director, Department of Tourism, Bengaluru will preside.
