SW Railways Mysuru division to employ retired personnel for gateman posts

Mysuru: South Western Railway, Mysuru division has decided to re-engage retired track maintainers to fill up vacant posts of gateman. At present, there are nearly 500 vacant posts at unmanned level crossings across Mysuru division.

In the aftermath of the gruesome accident on April 26, where 13 school children had died after their van was crushed by a passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing at Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, the railway authorities have taken this decision to prevent any such incidents in future. .

The Mysuru division has notified that the vacant posts of gateman will be filled on the basis of “Walk-in-Screening.” The screening will be held every alternate Tuesday. in case Tuesday happens to be a holiday, it will be conducted on next working day, a press release said.

First ‘’Walk-In-Screening’’ will be held on May 22 at Divisional Railway Manager’s office, Mysuru from 3 PM to 6 PM. Those retired from service and aged not more than 65 years are eligible to apply for the post. The average salary for the post is Rs 30000, the notification said.

Those interested can find the detailed notification regarding eligibility and other conditions at website www.swr.indianrailways.gov.in. The details may also be obtained from the Personnel Department of Mysuru Division, the press release said.
