Mysuru: Sr Jenifer Pinto of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation, Mysuru Province, has been selected by the Mysuru District Legal Service Authority as Panel Advocate for free legal aid clinic and has been appointed as the free legal advisor in the taluk office at Mysuru. She is the first nun to be appointed as a free legal advisor in the newly started Free Legal Aid Clinic of the Mysuru taluk.
This particular free legal aid clinic is aimed at providing free legal advice to the general public pertaining to various litigations and concerned legal matters. The clinic is situated in the Mini Vidhana Soudha of the taluk, where people can get easily access and avail free legal service.
Sr Jenifer was inducted to the office on September 10 in the presence of Assistant Commissioner, B P Devamane, District Legal Service Authority Judge and Rakshith K R, Mysuru Taluk Tashildhar.
It is a proud moment for the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation of Mysuru Province wherein for the first time a nun has been appointed for this noble social service.
Sr Jenifer Pinto hails from St Francis Xavier Church, Indubettu of the Belthangady taluk, Dakshina Kannada District. She joined the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation and completed her BA, LLB from the Vidyavardhaka Law College at Mysuru in the year 2015 and secured top marks. She received her final religious vows in the year 2016.
She is known for her hard work and dedication and has been practicing in the district court of Mysuru and Chamarajanagara along with being an associate advocate at the “Spanada Law Associates” a legal aid unit of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation of Mysuru Province. She is also the Director of ‘Safe Environment Committee’ in the CMI religious congregation of the Syro –Malabar Church.
