SP inaugurates camp for free repair of hearing aids

Mysuru: Ravi D Channannavar, Superintendent of Police, inaugurated a five-day camp for “Free repair of hearing aids”, organised by the Department of Electronics, AIISH, at its premises here on Monday.

In his address to the gathering, Ravi D Channannavar appreciated the services provided by the institute to the people of Mysuru as well as to people from all over the country. He added that, the institute is like a temple for all people with speech and hearing problems, especially from lower income group. He urged the parents of children with speech and hearing impairments to fight the odds and bring their children to the same level as their peers.

Dr Niranjana Vanalli, Registrar, Music Varsity, who also spoke on the occasion lauded the efforts made by AIISH to conduct such programs for the benefit of the people with hearing impairment in and around Mysuru. He requested the media to provide more publicity to such services provided by AIISH to persons with hearing impairment, amidst other responsibilities of an institute under the Government of India.

Dr. S R Savithri, Director, AIISH in her presidential address spoke about how assisting persons with hearing impairment with regard to hearing aids is one of the important programs at the institute. She assured that, any individual with hearing aids can walk in and get their hearing aid serviced and repaired free of cost at the camp.

The main attraction of this year’s camp is the participation of service engineers from six hearing aid companies namely M/s HAC Acoustic Technologies, Chennai, M/s Otic Hearing Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, M/s Amplifon (India) Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai, M/s Arphi Electronics, Chennai, M/s Danavox Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, and M/s Alps International Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. They will be providing free service to hearing aid users on all five days of the camp. On the first day, about two hundred hearing aid users attended the camp. The camp will continue from 9.30 am to 5 pm every day till November 17.
