Mysuru: In a shocking incident, a small-time politician was stabbed to death on his own birthday in the wee hours of Friday, March 6. His body was found in a service apartment and police believe that the murder occurred between 3 AM and 4 AM today.
According to reports, the deceased is identified as Anand (40) alias Vadda Anand, a resident of Janatanagar. Star of Mysore reports that Anand is realtor and financier. He is also a member of the BJP according to ANI.
According to ANI, Superintendent of Police Chandra Gupta said that the one person has been arrested in connection with the case and that further investigations are underway.
It is learnt that Anand, who is also a rowdy-sheeter, had gone drinking with a group of friends on the occasion of his birthday, celebrations for which reportedly kicked-off at the foot of the Chamundi Hill on Thursday. Many people attended the party, where food and drinks were served. At about 11 PM, Anand reportedly booked a service apartment in Kuvempu Nagar, where he took six to seven of his friends (two of them identified as Basavaraju and Srinivas). According to Star of Mysore, an argument broke out between the friends and it ended with Anand getting stabbed to death with broken beer bottles over and old rivalry.
After some of the friends fell asleep, Anand, Basavaraju, Srinivas and two others continued to drink and soon, an argument broke out between them during which Anand was stabbed to death. The attackers fled the scene soon after the incident.
One of the friends who were sleeping, woke up to find blood on the walls of the room, woke the others and alerted the police.
The police have not yet revealed who actually broke the beer bottles and stabbed Anand.
