Mysuru: Writer SL Bhyrappa inaugurated the Dasara celebrations atop the Chamundi hills today. He inaugurated this 10 days celebrations in the presence of CM BS Yediyurappa and other dignitaries by offering floral tributes to Goddess Chamundeshwari.
Prior to the inauguration, SL Bhyrappa visited the Chamundi hills temple and offered special prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari. CM BS Yediyurappa also visited the temple at 9.16 am.
But the event was marred by a protest by a section of activists. The police took several activists to preventive custody as they were opposing the presence of the MP Pratap Simha in the inaugural event.
Heavy police bandobast has been made in the hills as a precautionary measure.
