Mysuru: After Wadiyar Scion Yaduveer expressed opposition to Chief Minister Siddaramiah’s statement in a lighter vein, the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) is making frantic efforts to bring him into the party. Meanwhile, Janata Dal (Secular) President H D Kumaraswamy vehemently opposed CM’s statement by saying, “Siddaramaiah is afflicted with madness.”
While BJP is trying to bring in Scion Yaduveer into its party fold by involving his in-laws and family members of Dungarpur Royal family in Rajasthan, HDK on the other end said, “CM has not done anything worthwhile to equate his regime to that of Wadiyars, who ruled Mysuru.”
CM Siddramaiah on March 13, had claimed that he had disbursed funds to the district like the Mysuru Maharajas did.
Irked by CM’s statement, Yaduveer had reacted, “The work done by the Maharajas is there for all to see. People are aware of the works and contributions of the Wadiyar clan.”
However, Yaduveer refrained from joining politics and hinted at serving people in a way, best known to the Wadiyar family for ages.
“Can one compare the present government to Wadiyar’s rule?, HDK asked and said, “Mysore rulers implemented the reservation policy even before the Indian constitution came into force.”
Wadiyars’ contribution to irrigation and power sector is tremendous and comparison cannot be drawn at all, HDK said.
HDK made the comments in Sirsi during an interaction programme on water woes faced by the people, especially farmers in Northern-Karnataka region.
